Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Removing front bead sight question

I've got an 11-87P with a standard bead front sight. I want to replace it with a Meprolight tritium sight , 6-48 thread. Is this the same thread as on my 11-87 and if so, what is the best way to unscrew the factory bead? Is it set with locktite or should it come out fairly easily? I don't want to ruin it by removing it, if I can help it.
