I just brought home an 870 Express. I put 6 "00" magnum shells in the magazine, but can't fit anymore. For some reason I thought this gun held 7 or 8.

Thanks, I was doing some research on the web and found sites stating it is 7+1. Is it only 6 because I am using the 3" shells?

Yes, try it with 2 3/4 inch shells, i bet it'll hold 7 in the mag tube and 1 chambered

It's  the 20" model that holds 7+1

Just one round of #4 buck will kill everyone within a mile radius, so I wouldn't worry!

they do make shorter shotgun rounds that people use for 3-gun matches and home defense, they are abouyt half the size of a 3"er

Beautiful gun. I've got the same, except without the magazine extention.

From what I know, you can fit 6 shells in the tube and 1 in the chamber. I don't think shell length makes a difference.

My gun (without the extention) can fit 4 shells in the tube.

that thing needs no ammo, just racking it will scare off the bad guy
