Remington makes a 14" barrel and an 18" barrel.  I've never seen a 16".  Going shorter than 18" would require ATF paperwork.

I was under the impression the minimum barrel length on a Shotgun w/out doing ATF crap was 18.5"

Well damn. Never Mind. I figured I could put a 16" barrel on a shotty and still meet the overall length requirement but I guess not.

Yes.....

but you are required to meet minium overall length AND minimum barrel length.

Originally it was 18" for shotguns and rifles. But with all the lever actions right around 16, they dropped it for rifles to 16".
