Yesterday I took my Mossberg 500C shooting to see what type of pattern it makes.  I used an NRA Small Bore rifle target which is about the same size as a human torso.  Is this an apropriate target?  The guns purpose is for selfdefense.

I use sheets of butcher paper, or newspaper with a spraypainted 'circle' in the middle for all my shotgun patterning.

Dedicated, printed targets are for rifles. Totally pointless with a scattergun

I get the 35" wide contractor paper at Home Depot.  It's less that $10 and you can make a bunch of targets with it.  My daughters also like drawing the targets - do you'll keep the spouse happy too.
