I was in a gun shop looking around and came across an old 1100.  I was intrigued because it said 2 3/4 or 3 - STEEL.  Does that mean that it only designed to shoot steel shot.  I hadn't ever seen something like that before.

Old 1100s were EITHER 2 3/4" OR 3", not both.  Newer ones might have had a gas regulator, but afaik they were 11-87s.  The 2 3/4" are usually worth more because they are more popular with trap shooters.  

Correct me if I am wrong, folks.

I had two of them and they were 2   3/4 inch only
I don't remember them coming in both only the 870 took 2 3/4  and 3 inch that I know of

Yeah, I was baffled to see an 1100 take both 2 3/4in and 3 in shells.  Thanks for the info
