Maybe I am a girlie man like the Sarge.  But I shot only 50 rounds from my M1S90 tactical and I feel like my shoulder is going to fall off.  I was using full power loads with 00 and #4 shot.  Very nice patterns and accurate as far as a shotgun can be.  Grams was wondering about all the metal termites in her firewood.

The key to your pain is, 00 #4's. they're not meant to be shot 50 times. But I do like your endurance!

I shot 28 3" activ slugs as fast as I could shoot and load just to prove a point about loading a shotgun, I couldn't hear anything for the rest of the day , and I was wearing ear protection

Why do you think they invented tactical loadings?

Can you see a bunch of cops wanting to train the second day with shoulders well gone purple?

50 rounds??  Yeah my shoulder would be ready to fall off too, at least with my M3. In a way I'm kinda glad to see it wasn't just me.. I'm no recoil puss either.

My 18" 870 is even worse though. I almost don't like shooting it. Well, almost.

ETA: I switched to the "tactical" reduced recoil loads not long after buying the 870. Definately helps! They're not really needed for the M1 under "normal" conditions though.  JMHO.

Its been a long time since I shot it so I was trying to get my shooting in for the year with it.  I need to get some tactical loads though.

Benelli's using the inertia recoil like the M1S90 don't cycle
some tactical or reduced power loads .
Mine works well with the federal 00 buck tac loads , but
gags on #4 .

I considered the lighter Wolfe springs , but I have heard the
gun takes a beating when you shoot 3" full power loads .
So I stuck with the stock spring and eat the recoil

Hell yes, I've seen a bunch of cops wanting to train the second day, with shoulders gone purple.

You badly underestimating the level of "down with the shotgun sickness" of your average cop.

get one of these

Could be why all the clay shooters wear those snazzy vests.  I wear a recoil pad and go through a case of clays without discomfort later.

Isn't that one of those inserts for men without butt cheeks?

Here's another option.  www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=6&f=1&t=186389

The first time I ever fired a shotgun, my shoulder was sore. I shot dozens of birdshot, buckshot, and slugs. However, the second time my shoulder took it a lot better, and by the third time, my shoulder didn't hurt at all. Now my shoulder doesn't even notice birdshot and buckshot, and will only start to complain if I start shooting a bunch of slugs. So anyway, I think the "pain" is normal for your first time. Tough it up and take it like a man. Your shoulder will get used to it soon enough.

Sell the B and try a Remy 1100CM! No problems  with recoil with slugs or 00.

First day out with my 26" 870 Super Mag I put ~300 rounds of mixed 2 3/4", 3", and 3 1/2" slugs/buck through it, as well as a crapload of 2 3/4" birdshot.  Talk about purple! :(

Uh Guys,

Knoxx Comp Stock solved the pain and shoots like a dream

I own a 870 SuperMagnum and can blaze away with 3.5 magnums all day with NO pain!

It would make shooting full power buck feel like shooting the low velocity reduced recoil rounds only softer!

hey bigger hammer, do you know what the length of pull is on the knoxx cop stock. I was thinking about putting it on my 870 express.
thanks

Just curious to know exactly WHICH Knoxx stock you are asking about

The Knoxx COMP stock is a conventional style stock

the Knoxx COP stock is a pistol gripped Folder stock.

I have not owned a COP stock, (I just don't believe in folders!)  On my COMP stocks the L.O.P. matches the factory Rem unitl.  I couldn't tell the difference bringing up the gun.  I could only tell the BIG difference AFTER I fired the shot and didn't get slammed!

If you need the answer to the millimeter - contact CaCrusin on the E.E. - he works for Knoxx and could tell you E-V-E-R-Y detail you might need to know!

Yeah 3 1/2" loads in a pump will leave you black and blue.

Every year my Dad and I attend a Sporting Clays and Live Pigeon shoot. There is 600 live birds and over 2,000 clay targets. This is all day shoot. My Dad uses a Beretta 1201FP and a Beretta 20 gauge. I used a Benelli SBE and a Benelli M1 Super 90.

We both shot 4 cases EACH last year!!! No Shit 1,000 rounds.

My shoulder, and neck was swore for a week.

But it was a lot fun!

WELL im the more than occaisonal trap shooter try using JUST 1 oz. loads nothing special out of a gun that you keep picking your head up on now that riot gun bit hard.... I own 2 1100's use one of them for trap and like it BUT clean it and clean it often those things will fail you if you dont clean it....but all you guys are using 3 in magnum with buck so you wouldnt have to worry about cleaning it with a load like that it will open that any day of the week

A guy who used to be my supervisor told me a story about the first time he shot his Fathers shotty.  He said that he has seen how the 12 gage would push his Fathers shoulder back when he shot it.  So, he leaned against a tree before he shot the 12 gage.      OUCH!!!
