Does it hurt your shotgun to fire buck shot or slugs out of a 26 or 28 inch barrel shot gun?

What about with the various chokes:

Extra Full
Full
Modified
Improved cylinder

Does the barrel choke matter?

It's safe to shoot any STANDARD slug or shot from any STANDARD choked gun from Open Cylinder to Full.
Barrel length has nothing to do with it.

Where you might get into trouble is shooting slugs from non-standard extra tight chokes.

I don't know about slugs or heavy buckshot through a Extra-Full choke.
I'd ask the gun's maker about this,

Definetly don't go any tighter than full for shooting slugs - I've seen some 26" to 30" bird barrels that would shoot slugs amazingly well with either an IC choke or a modified - MUCH better than you'd ever think to be possible... As for buckshot - I don't think it'd hurt anything, but you might not get very good patterns... As Faris said, when in doubt, ask the manufacturer....

I've been shooting my handrolled Lyman Sabots through my 1300 with an Improved Cylinder with no prob.  I"m too chicken to go any tighter.  Anyone have an idea how tight is "safe" for these?
