never ever go wrong with a benelli......best semi auto shotguns out today HANDS DOWN have shot many different types of shotguns and I always go back to the benelli, buy one you wont be disappointed

We could use a bit more info as to what you want to do with it, as in "home defense and 3 gun matches" or "goose hunting and trap" etc.. Tough to beat an 870 with two or three barrels or, these days, screw in chokes, as a sort of "do it all" shot gun IMO.

My main use for this weapon is home defense, SHTF and breaking stuff in the swamps.
Of course my 1st choice is Benelli. Can the other manfacturers give me good bang for the buck or are they pretenders when compared to the M2.

Used 870s can be had for $100 to $200 - a new 870 Express can be had for under $250... I wouldn't shy away from a used 870 - there's not much one could do to screw an 870 up - and you simply can't wear them out....

 stick with the benelli yea its a little more but you pay more for the best.....where in FL are you?

I have a Benelli M1S90, not pumping is nice Ive never been disapointed
I have a Remington 870 reliable feeding with any ammo is nice and lots of goodies availible. I have had great results with both. Its all in what you want  P.S.-Be careful of Mossberg IMO

Benelli M1 field with 22" bbl. Add a tube and sidesaddle and you can do anything with this shotgun.

Of the choices given I would go with the Benelli.
That being said. I've never really owned or wanted to own a semi-auto shotgun. I don't know why. I have only ever owned single, double barrel or pump action shotguns. |

I had all three at one point.
Sure like the Benelli. Sure like the Defender. I didn't like the 870...which makes me 1 out of 10,000 out there. Most people think the 870 is the cats meow. It's clearly a good shotgun from all the cops that carry them. I simply like the feel of the Defender, plus all the 870s I saw needed a mag extension to hold as many rounds as the Defender. They sell them with the extension already on there now. |

For blowing holes in random junk and home defense I'd say the 870 police version with a surefire foreend since you're not afraid to throw some money around, though the Benelllis are very nice.

If $$$ is not an issue than buying several shotguns is the way to go! Remember shotguns are like golfs clubs you need several. MIKE.

I would take this one step further and say FIREARMS are like golf clubs....you need several! For what it's worth, I recently purchased a 7 shot 870 Synthetic (essentially a Marine Magnum without the nickel plating or swivel studs) and I really like it. Sells for $299 at Outdoor World although I cashed in all my rewards points and only paid about $90 for it.  |

I think my M1 S90 is one of the best firearms ever made. I also have a 590 and I think it is a POS.

Got that right, Mike - for the different shotgunning activities I do, I need atleast 4 or 5 shotguns, minimum: deer hunting, turkey and other birds, trap, and home defense for example... A 12ga coach gun is high on my wishlist, too... Although I have to admit I could "do it all"(and have) with an 870 combo... - georgestrings |

I got to shoot one of the new Benelli M2 shotguns with the "ComforTech"rubber/plastic composite buttstock... I could not BELIEVE how such a light shotgun could kick so little and have so little muzzle rise. That stock really works well. I recommend you take a look:
