SInce I have to go do recruiting duty in the southern CA area, I need to arm myself.  I know about assualt rifles and handguns, but what are the laws about shotguns out that way?

Shotguns must have 18" or longer barrels and an overall length of no less than 26" (1934 NFA).  With pumps, that's all the regulation there is (well, no shotgun revolvers allowed).

Semi-auto shotguns are more restricted.  Semi-autos with pistol grip AND folding stock are no-nos.  Also, any detachable magazine semi-auto.

That's it.

Don't carry a loaded gun around in your car.

yep. the best way to defend yourself in CA is if you have a cell phone and can remember "911." pretty simple, ain't it?

I have heard military personel on orders are exempt from CA gun laws.  I could have shipped weapons overseas with me under certain (as always) guidelines. So, I'm saying you might want to check with the right people.  'Moving the house hold' folks might be helpful.

Hey Shooters,

This link will give you the information regarding Kookie Kaliforna Kodes for "Assault Weapons"

ag.ca.gov/firearms/regagunfaqs.htm

SPAS 12, LAW 12, and rotary cyl. shotguns (Striker & Streetsweeper) are No-No's in the land of anti-gun BoZos!!

In addtion, to the specifically named guns, the codes have changed to follow the '94 A.W.B. so that putting a magazine extension on a pistol gripped semiauto shotgun or putting a pistol grip on your extended magazine shotgun is also a legal "No-No"!
