Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - 870 Barrel question

Are the Mossberg 18.5 inch 870 barrels any good?  

I am looking at possibly getting one, as my 30" factory barrel ain't real useful anywhere but the skeet field.  Otherwise I would get a 28 inch vent rib, and cut it down to 18 inches or so.

Hey. I don't see why the Mossberg barrels wouldn't be okay. I have seen the actual 18.5" Remington brand barrels for sale online before for $90. Centerfire Systems used to offer them, but doesn't currently list them on their website. I'd try to find a Remington barrel first if possible (to keep it all Remington), and if not, go with the Mossberg.
