Choate used to offer a pistol grip, & some Savage/Stevens M67 shotguns came factory with it.  Does your buddie's M67 have the thumb safety or the crossbolt?  The Choate pistol grip is set up for the top mounted thumb safety.

I've seen a few of the Choate grips for sale on E-bay.  I've got one but I modified it to fit my older Savage/Stevens that has the crossbolt safety.  Epoxy, JB Weld & some scrap plastic with a bit of black spraypaint...typical WECSOG moment.  If you can't find one of the Choate grips you could always scrounge a used wood shoulder stock & cut it down "whippet" style.  probably better for using the thumb safety.

Can't really blame Choate for discontinuing production of their Savage/Stevens grips.....Savage stopped making the shotguns in the '80s & they were always the "American Motors" to the Remington 870/Mossberg 500,590/Winchester 1300 "GM/Chrysler/Ford" riotgun market.  Choate used to also make pistol grips for the High Standard pumps also, & they went out of production in the '70s <?>.  I think they do still offer stuff for the Ithaca 37 though.
