How about this? (Saiga .410 )  Sells retail for about $200 If you want more BOOM they make a 20ga or 12ga too

Get a Remington 870 and load it with 00 Buck.
Pistol grip STOCKS are good, pistol grips by themselves are nearly useless. |

Mossberg 500 was/is my first shotgun. Im extremly happy with it.

Mossberg 500/590/, Winchester 1300, Remington 870, Benelli Nova... I think you'd be pretty happy with any of them and you won't break the bank either. I use Federal, reduced recoil, 9 pellet 00 buck in the house shotgun.

After owning 3 Mossbergs and finally stepping up to the 870, I will never look back. Save your money. Buy quality first and get the Remington 870.

So it seems that the 870 is the way to go huh? thanks for the advice. How is the kick with those things? I would assume it depends on the load you're shooting with it, what is the ideal load for home defense? |

Dont worry about the recoil..its fun!
its not to bad though, i have had a few 130lb chicks shoot it with no problems...(sorry no pics) But I also would go with the 870 for a first shotgun, theres not much you can do to mess it up, jam it, or break it... |

Get an 870. I have one and love it. I have an 18 inch barrel with removable chokes and am in the process of trying to get a 14.5" scattergun tech barrel. I dont have any pics right now, sorry. As for Buckshot, I use a 3in 00 buck with 12 pellets with a buckshot choke. adds a coupla inches to the barrel length and looks like a turkey choke.
Hope this helps. Oh, and STAY AWAY FROM THE SIAGIAS!! tested one for my boss and it came apart on me after 3 or four shots. took it back and got a refund, dealer pitched it. Chris |

thanks for all the replies guys. I'm gonna take your advice and make the 870 my first shotgun
 now for 2 more questions: Since I'm in the evil republik of kalistan, would it even be legal for me to put a pistol grip stock with the m4 telescoping stock? and secondly, where is a good place for tactial 870 gear? I'd like to take a look at all the goodies they make for that gun and customize it. thanks for all your responses so far. *edit* after checking out the 870s on gunbroker.com what guage should I go for? 12? 16? 20? any recommendations on barrel length as well? thanks again |

12 guage, 18" barrel cyl or improved, rifle or ghost ring sights, skip the pistol grip stock and add a 3 round mag extension. Think about adding a light to it at some point.
