My grandfather died and left me a Marlin model 53, 12 gauge pump shotgun.

I have tried to find info on Marlin's website as to when this firearm was manufactured, how many were manufactured and such, but to no avail.

Can anyone here point me to a information resource?

TIA

The Marlin takedown 53 was produced only in 1929 and 1930.
Production was low, and apparently it was a special production gun intended to use up parts on hand when the Marlin Model 43 was introduced.

Value for one in excellent condition would be around $350.00.

Thanks faris.

This shotgun has spent the better part of the past 40 years in the back of my Grandma's closet.  It has more sentimental value than anything else.
