Can anyone tell me how to drill and tap for shotgun bead sights.  This would be for a plain barreled gun, not vent-rib. I'm considering trimming some barrel off a single- shot gun and I want to keep the bead.  Would it be better just to try a snap-on or glue-on sight?  Any links or information is appreciated.

Thanks,
-GH

First off, do you have a drill press?

Have you ever drilled and tapped anything before?

If you answered "no" to the first two questions, you would be better off taking your barrel to a gunsmith or someone with a drill press and expierence in drilling and tapping hole in metal.

Rambosky's right. Plus, it's very easy to get it off center. You need someone else to blaim if that happens.

The Threads on the beads are either 6-48 or 3-56. These are not standard thread sizes, so you would have to pay for the tap, drill bit and shipping.

Just pay the starving ole gunsmith the $20 he's gonna charge and be done with it.
