MSRP is $1050, so should come in less than the 45 Tactical. Fair I think, at least FN hasn’t jumped the shark on their handgun prices.
One of these is definitely in my future after all the whining I’ve done for a tactical style 9mm from FN. |
|
I’ve said for awhile that it’s a shame the 509 doesn’t get talked about, I really like mine. Got it for a song a year ago plus they were running a mag promo. Apex super pinky promises their trigger is almost out, it takes any Sig/XS sight, and that FDE finish looks great.

View Quote "A vanilla 509 can be had for about $450.00 https://gun.deals/search/apachesolr_search/845737008079 I can't see this one being good value for money at over 2x vanilla, with the optic costs on top of it. I can wait till its 800ish OTD. Just as a reference, a Sig P320 RX, with optic can be had for $750.00. https://gun.deals/search/apachesolr_search/798681572045 The threaded barrel I imagine is a good bit less then a good optic." |

The cool thing FN did wwith this product launch was to have them in distributors warehouses today. I wish all the manufacturers did it that way.

The Gun looks great, the MSRP looks a little high, I wonder if it will come with same case as the FNX Tac. I truly believe all handguns should come in a soft case like that.
If this gun hits the street at 800 i may get one, but for now my plain jane 509 will do the job |
|
The price is what I expected out of a new "tactical" model. Threaded barrel, raised tritium sights, optics cut, extended/mag extensions seems to be a solid feature set, along with the extended controls. If I can snag one for $850-900, I'll likely jump on it without hesitation. The fancy carry case is a nice touch too.
ETA: local LGSs around my area is quoting me $999 OTT. So roughly $950 with tax. Gunbroker shows $799 starting bids and $899 buy it now. With transfer and shipping, it's pretty much a wash. |
|
Just like all the manufactuers to release the new desirable guns in the less desirable FDE, and then in Black.
I’ll wait and buy black if i’m still interested by the time of its release. FN is a stagnant company in its civilian released guns as of late. |
|
I ordered mine today through my LGS, it'll be here next week. It was much less than msrp btw.
I am excited to try it, but I am pretty sure it'll need the Apex trigger if it's going to stick around long term in my safe. |
|
Mil/LEO discount is in the $850 range. Looks like it comes with the soft case.

I don't know...I've had a couple FN handguns and haven't really been impressed with either of them. Damn shame too as they are the only two handguns I've purchase brand new--an FNS-9L and an FNX-45T. They FEEL really good but, for me, it comes down to function. The FNS shot about 24 inches low at 15 yards using the hold they suggest. Trigger blew. Also had a few too many stovepipes for me. Sold it, the 7 mags, and the competition gear I had for it. Bought an FNX-45T. Really REALLY liked that gun but again, just too many small issues for a $1k+ handgun. Grip flexed enough that mags wouldn't reliably drop free. Mags would catch on something internally when inserted slightly off center (i.e. tilted forward). Didn't like the 1/8th pseudo trigger set but that may be me being overly sensitive about it. I had MANY instances of light strikes when using non-american primer'd ammo.
TL/DR: I don't trust FN handguns anymore and I'll pass, especially when CZ/Glock/S&W/Walther/etc all make similar handguns for literally $300 less. |

Local shop I know actually got two in. I shall own one.
Fun fact it will fit in my Glock 17 Safariland 6354do holster since it's got that extended barrel |

Updated the OP with a new vid with a new Optic, at the bottom of the OP.

This is a Galaxy S4 so this picture was basically taken with a Potato. I got lucky and found one. it lives with me now. Attached File
I super dig the sights and the mounting system. Very well though out. |

Does anyone know what these are actually selling for? The 19x has a really high msrp, but was closer to $600 when it actually hit stores.

Which recoil spring are you guys using in the gun? I feel like the silver one that's installed when shipped is almost too strong. The slide slams forward when released like no polymer gun I've ever seen before.

While I don't own a 509, every FN pistol I've bought new starts out that way and then they wear in View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Looks like prices are really coming down already. GunProDeals.com has FN 509 Tacticals for $790.

So how is everyone liking theirs so far? I have only had mine out once and I put close to 200 rounds through it, but I can safely say that I like it more than the G17's I have been running for the past few years and I never thought another gun would take me away from those. I am still trying to track down a FDE RMR for it so that I can evaluate it with a RDS, but I have high hopes that this will become my go to handgun and I will certainly be picking up a second when they release them in black.

Anyone else having grouping issues with these? I can't get it to less than 6 inches at 7 - 10 yards. No problems with other pistols but this one will not group. Thinking is sending it in.

I tried the gun at local shop yesterday, overall it’s a great gun, the only thing I didn’t like it’s the reset, it feels the spring is not powerful enough to push my finger forward. Does anyone has similar experience?
|
|
Just using fixed sights at the moment. group is all over the place. they can be right, left high and low. Normally at the distance I can shoot the center out easily but not with this pistol.

Got my grouping issue fixed. Added an RMR and once zeroed it is dead on and it is very type groups.
Finestkind |
|
My pistol was right on with the irons. I added a new rmr (so it was mechanically zeroed) and to my surprise it was right on. No zeroing necessary. After waiting for Beretta to release their apx rdo slide, I'm glad I decided to go with the 509T instead.
3 shot groups at 15 yards. Attached File |

I got to play with one at a local fun store the other day. Probably the nicest striker fired trigger I’ve ever had experience with, I was very impressed.
My next handgun for sure! |
|
Brought my 509T last week. Upon receive from my FFL, I realize I brought the “wrong version” it came with 10 round mag instead. Has anyone deal with FN customer service before? Do you think they will swap the 24 and 17 rounds?
If anyone wants to buy my mag they are available for sale. |
