Man, I'm so excited - just ordered my first 1911, a Springfield loaded model PX9109L.  Anything I need to know?  Advice?  Stuff to do to it?  Stuff to avoid? I'm a 1911 noob, so any advice is greatly appreciated!!!!!

I've got the same pistol.  It should work out fine for you.

Mine had a really stiff trigger pull.  I replaced the factory stuff with a YoBo matched hammer/sear and a Dlask magnesium trigger.  (it didn't 'need' these parts, but I wanted them)  I used the original parts to build up a parts gun.

Only thing mine 'needed' was a bevel.  The bottom edges of the slide were sharp enough to draw blood every time I pulled the trigger.  Adjusting my grip would have fixed my problem, but I wasn't going to change what has worked for me for some 20-odd years...it was easier and more fun to cut/file/refinish my gun.
