just picked one of these up and was wondering if all aftermarket parts will fit on it?  like a beavertail saftey and all of that goodness.  thanks.

Any aftermarket part that will fit on a standard 1911 will work on this.  However, you have a "Series 70" patterned gun, so you need to keep that in mind when getting things like firing pin stops, hammers, etc.  Anything cut for Series 80 will work, but you see amny people wondering which they should buy when they're looking a t a part that comes in Series 70 and Series 80.

Regarding beavertails, the Springfield frame has frame tangs that are a different profile.  They have a top surface that is contoured much lower than Colt or military spec guns.  As such, a regular beavertail that is fitted to the frame will result in a top surface that sits higher than the frame tangs on a Springfield.  

Smith and Alexander makes a special beavertail with a lower top surface.  To accomplish this, they needed to make a beavertail with a smaller radius cut to the rear of the frame.  They came up with a .220" radius cut to compensate for this, while most others are .250".  Wilson Combat's compound radius works too, and this is what Springfield copied with their own factory beavertails on their loaded models.

It's purely cosmetic, but if you intend to get a fitted beavertail, I would recommend the S&A.  It looks good, and it's easier to install than the Wilson, in case your a do it yourselfer.  If you decide to go to a smith, then either will do.
