I shot NRA bullseye for about 8 seasons and only saw a handful of original .38 Spl Colts.  They seemed to be rare.  Plenty of shooters used "built" versions but an original should be valuable I would think.

i took a look at this pistol the other day

i would say its about 95% good shape with the other 5% being just finish ware...

the mags are really wierd but iam not a 1911 guy but they had a little tab on each

side to pull down to load the rounds...

overall it was very nice.

kind makes me want to get rid of my glock and get a 1911 lol

"iam also older and wiser now"

dont get me wrong i love my glock but really like the feel of the 1911

..........seen a couple at shows....the ones i saw had no particular value.....other than colt.....they were made for that off hand competition...like the smith......was it mod52...38 wads.....fine gun just 38 spec...if you think about it...you can get a more responsive caliber..the 38 super was actually regarded as a heavy game round.....when first introduced.....but so was the winchester 32 spec rifle round.....my have things changed........
