Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Kimber Extratctors

I’m looking at getting a Pro Raptor II and thought they all had internal extractors.  Somebody said that they have both Internal and External.  Could somebody shed some light on how I can see the difference?  Some pics, explanation, what to look for, etc…

I don’t own any Kimbers but have read to stay away from the external extractor especially in barrels under 5”.

Kimber got tired of trying to make their Externals work, so new guns have internal extractors. There are still both kinds on the shelf.

You will see the extractor on an external, it is cut into the slide like a Glock's extractor.  The internal is not visible.

I can confirm... stay away from externals in the Ultras.  I have 2 Custom Shop Ultra RCPs that I refuse to carry because they are way too unreliable.  After 3 different extractor designs (that I personally tried), they finally extract, but do not feed reliably.
