While interesting, its still a gun rag...  

I'd be interested in hearing from those who own them for their thoughts on them in terms of fit/finish, quality of parts, accuracy and reliability.

I like the PT1911 but I think I'd make a few changes.  

I'd retain the Heinie sights and replace everything below them.

Gun rag writers will promote any gun, as long as the manufacturer pays for full page ads placed opposite the artice. I'll hold my judgement until these hit the street but I have noticed a couple of points.

In the article, there is a table showing how much a gun would cost if it had all the features the Taurus has but that chart is bogus and misleading.

Check the slide to frame fit in the picture and note how the right side of the ambi safety sits way up off the frame. I'll wait and see.

Good luck getting one.

I called Taurus about 2 weeks ago.  
They said "It's not in the country yet."
I said, "It's due Q4 2005."
They said "It's not in the country yet."

Looks like we'll be lucky for Q1 2006.
