Hey all,
Well if any of youse have been following my barely coherent drivel, I think I may have come upon a solution of ARFCOM proportions.  GET BOTH!!!!!  Yep, I think I just may end up getting TWO 1911's this week .  One of which is the ubiquitous Colt 70.  Now here's the rub.  I really like the Colts but I also like the "financial" aspects of the SA pistols.  So here's the question:

If you already had two Colt 70's, would you rather have a NRM Colt 80 series or a SA GI (70 series)?

What he said. I don't like SA roll marks either. I DO like Commanders and Colt Commercial models.

Get the SA.  Although I NEED a NRM Colt!

Get the Series 80.  They work just fine.  The rollmark is nice, and the fit and materials are much better than SA.

Having said that, I'm considering buying an SA, leaving it completely stock, and leaving it under the seat of my truck just to have it handy.

The New Roll Mark Colts are some of the best base model 1911's out there.  AS for the series 80 parts, you will never know they are there.

You need a poll!

Personally, if I could afford two Colts, I see no reason to buy Springfield.  S80/S70 makes absolutely no difference to me.

I don't do Series 80/Schwartz safety, or Series II.

If the series 80 stuff is such a big deal, get the spacer from Brownells and toss them out.
