I thought you guys may enjoy a look at a 1* that recently left the shop. I didn’t have time to set up and do a full photo spread but I think with this gun it’s okay as it’s the combination of what’s
not here and who it was built for that makes the gun interesting to me.
Easily the best selling gun that comes out of the shop and for good reason, the 1* exemplifies sound thinking, simplicity, and the heritage of custom fighting 1911s that dates back to Armand Swenson. In today’s market of full length guide rods, beavertail grip safeties, extended add-on mag-wells, and the like it’s kind of neat to see that a “real deal” kind of guy choose something as graceful and simplistic as the gun pictured here for his “working” piece.
From the Kart barrel and 24K gold line front sight to the Yo-Bo light rail, wood grips, and (
shudder to think) blued finish the gun you see here was spec’d out by a very “special” employee of the Navy who could have easily had anything he wanted from us on his using gun. And while I'm not a huge fan of light rails, even with that one "modern" addition if you ask me it's still pretty cool to see that a
simple set of sights,
basic woods stocks, and a
classic blued finish can and still is competitive.
