I have a para p12 lda and I am thinking of replacing the fake hammer(actually just a flat piece of metal, similar to a DAO setup) with a skelotonized hammer because I think it looks better. Holster question is, if I did that , I could not have it in a cocked and locked positon(due to the lda design). Are most holsters that are for 1911 that have a retention device that goes over the hammer, designed to be used with the hammer cocked?

If the holster has a thumb break, then yes, it won't work.  If you get an open top holster then you have no worries.
