Does anybody know what hollow points my Dan wesson will eat?  I tried some corbons, but they just dug into the feed ramp.

Thanks,
Ryan

Gold Dots!

Speer Gold Dots and Winchester Ranger SXTs (model RA45T) are generally regarded as the best for self-defense. Speer Gold Dots are readily available in most places. The Rangers can be harder to get a hold of since Winchester only likes to sell them to Law Enforcement suppliers, but are generally regarded as the best.

Not stealing your thread.  I was told older barrels (pre-80 I think) would not take hollow points.  Any truth in that?  I have an older 70 series National Match is why I ask.

I picked up some remington golden sabers.  My supplier was out of the gold dots in acp.  The rems feed fine by hand racking, so hopefully they will work under fire as well.

Thanks

When this subject came up on the 1911 forum, it was stated by Bob Serva from DW that most of the DW models were designed as target guns and were made to shoot FMJ. What model do you have?

I don't know of any 1911 that wouldn't feed hp's(not wide wide mouth) after polishing the throat and ramps, not removing material, but just a polish

+1

Throat the barrel and polish the feed ramp. This should be mandatory on any carry gun if it was not already done by the manufacturer/builder.  Also use good mags, I prefer Wilson 47Ds.

For Winchester Ranger ammo, email Jery Kirkpatrick at: [email protected]  He is a nice guy and prices his ammo reasonably. Just tell him what you want and give him your ship to zip code and he will give you the delivered price. There is a price break on cases of 500 rounds (10 boxes). I highly recommend Winchester Ranger RA45T.

My TRP's seen 200 rounds of the 200 grainers so far with zero malfunctions.

I've been using chip McCormick 8 round shooting stars.  I have a PM3-P.  One of my mags won't lock the slide back any more.  I have been thinking about trying the wilson mags but the chips are the right price.

There is a "Group Buy" about to end in the EE for Wilson mags. I highly recommend the 47Ds.
