My priorities are such:

THIN - most important to me
grippiness - is that a word?
price - don't really care

What I've seen around and am interested in - Gunner grips (look kinda thick), VZ grips (I have no idea how to decipher which pair I would want - WAY too confusing) and alumagrips (they have a thin checkered option that looks appealing to my priorities)..

With those priorities, how would you go.  At present I have the kimber rubber grips my TLE RL II Pro SS came with.  Looking to change them to something thinner.

Having owned Alumagrips and VZs, I would opt for the VZ ultra thins in the gatorback pattern.  I love the way Alumagrips look, but I don't particular think they feel very aggressive.  The VZs are some of the more aggressive grips around.  The VZs and the Alumagrips are both about the same width, with the Alumagrips being about 1/10" thinner.   The Gunners do not come in a thin grip, as far as I know.  One small thing to consider, though it's extrememly minor, is that Alumagrips are definitely hooter when you leave the gun in the sun.  Of course, the whole gun gets hot, so having cooler grips might be a moot point.

Gunners are a bit thicker but as far as grippy goes  they are the best.........imho.

I have another 1911, my springfield loaded.  She's my 'shooter' 1911 that I learnt 1911's on.  She doesn't have front checkerring so I popped a hogue grip on her.  I MUST have some kind of purchase no the front strap so that was a cheap option.  I'm thinking of instead of getting Pearce front finger grooves and gunner grips on the side though, cause even that would be smaller than the hogue set.  Those are HUGE!!!!

Even the standard size VZ gators seem to be a little thinner than stock grips:

stocks on a 1911 are about the most personal fit to hand as shoe to foot.
i have ivory on my gold cup and stag on my kimber. "thin grip" cocobolo on my hi power
and plain old walnut on my detonics, but looking for black canvas micarta for it. as the grips are wearing.

I have both Aluma Grips and VZ grips on my 1911s.

I love my Aluma Grips.  They are fairly grippy.  They clean up with Gun Scrubber.  They do add a bit of weight to the pistol.  Also, they get fairly hot if you are shooting a lot.  They cool down quickly enough, but the difference is noticeable.

VZs look great, and feel even better.  You can't go wrong with either one.

Never wasting an opportunity to post some pictures of my 1911:

Seeing as how you don't care about price...buy them all and try em, then give me the ones you don't like!

Edited to add: I have Gunners on the way from NM Tactical and am waiting on the new VZ Grips to come out.

Just search the EE, that's how I work!
