I use Federal American Eagle 230gr. FMJ exclusively for target shooting. I get it from Natchez. My cost on a case of 1000 is about $200 delivered to Florida. Here's the link:

Federal AE .45 ACP at Natchez

8/24 ETA: They've increased the price per box by 30 cents, but no mimimum order. Used to be $8.99/box if you bought a case of 1000.

I wait til Cabalas has S&B on sale, then buy a couple of K. Last time it was 8? bucks a box or some crazy cheap price. 9mm was 5 bucks a box on the same sale. Think I dumped well over 500 bucks there that day. Never had a problem with S&B myself. Guns like a lot more the PMC or UMC.

Check out outdoormarksman.com.  The millwall factory reloads are great.  never had a problem with them.  Between .45 and 9mm, I have fired serveral thousand rounds of that stuff.

Good for plinking!

I went out today to see how this was grouping.  I was getting very consistent 4" groups at 25 yards freehand standing.  I shoot this all the time and have never had any trouble with it.

Ive never had any problems with the Wolf .45acp..Goes bang everytime and is suprisingly very accurate in my P14-45.
Otherwise I buy the UMC and WWB from my local gunshop. The S&B is excellent ammo also.Loaded hot too,CIP spec's.But I have not had any of that lately...my local gunshop cant get it for some reason.

+1

I have used Federal, Winchester, and CCI Blazer (brass & aluminum cased) with none or very few problems.

Same here.  Sometimes Natchez has sweet deals on S&B too though.

Yep Wally Win White box. Cant beat the price on 100rd box. Dirty but reliable and cheap.

9mm, 40cal and 45acp best prices. The 9mm also runs in my subguns.

100rd 9mm for $11 something, 40cal 100rd 15.97, and 45 cal 100rd 19.97.

CCI Blazers or Winchester white box at Wally World. You may be able to get some cheaper online, but you can go pick up these at Wal Mart any time (as long as they are well stocked).

I lie to use Remington UMC 230gr ball

I usually pick up 250 round boxes of UMC 230gr hardball at Gander Mountain at arod $60-$65/box...

Getting kind of pricy though as that's one range session for me...dropping $65/week is adding up

I'm thinking about sticking with Wolf. Last trip to the range it was more accurate than Win. white box, and just as reliable for less money.

Is Wolf underpowered? What's the story? If it's true, it might be just what I need for my 43 Remington Rand.

I've never chronoed Wolf but I shoot a lot of different .45 loads and it's one of the milder I've come across. I'd compare it to WWB 185 gr target even though it's a 230 gr bullet.

Wolf should make power factor for the gun games.  Their .223 has been reported to have problems being a little shy of the floor, but Wolf is aware of this and working on the problem.

I don't honestly know if Wolf is underpowered but the price is so right.
