I just got a new Raptor today. When I took it apart to clean it I noticed a strange dimple on the inside of the slide.None of my other 1911's have this.Do you think it is normal or will hurt anything. Thanks

Interesting-- almost looks like a centering mark for indexing a mill or something. Never seen one like it. It isn't into the locking lugs, and the area it's in isn't bearing any pressure, so I doubt it would hurt anything-- it's just-- interesting. Anyone else have any idea??

My Kimber TLEII has the same mark.  I have never had any problems.  I would not worry about it.  Best guess, it could be a centering point for the machine/tool they use to cut the lugs???

Rockwell hardness tests are much smaller, but it does look like that.  I would love to know what it is.  In the off chance you call Kimber to find out, let us know.

I found out that it is there to tell Kimber what extractor it has in it.They have like 4 different versions of extractors. So if you call for a new one the will ask if it has the dimple or not. Thanks for all you guys who tried to help.
