Very nice.
IKOR states a good question, are these going to be as sharp/aggressive as Gunner's?
I shot a 1911 with Gunner's and they were to sharp for me, actually hurt to shoot.
I have a set of the Red/Black Paper Micarta and I'm very happy with them.
BTW, what's the price & availability on these?

* The new Diamond-Backs wil be available shortly. They will retail at the usual $55. We have some new tan micarta due in by the end of the week. I'll post some pics when I run a set. I'm not sure what other colors I'll be offering these in, but for now it's going to be Black Paper and Tan Canvas.

* As for the texture, they are not as sharp as the new Strider Gunners, but they do have a bite. The Gunners were made for the military with the idea that they would be using gloves. There is really no reason to make grips this agressive for civilian use. The Diamond-Backs will be an agressive grip, but one that will not hurt to shoot nor need to be altered to be able to shoot or feel comfortable.

If you have a calus of a hand and need / want a hold that is agressive and sharp I would recomend starting off with a good textured grip that is comfortable and fits your palm area well. From there I would look at the different front strap and MSH offerings that are available. This is where the majority of your purchase on the firearm is at. You tighten your grip on a handgun with your fingers (front strap) and the heel of your palm (MSH). You can't do this with your palm since there is nothing on the other side to push against. Make sense? I think the most agressive combo I have seen are Gunners paired up with Chuck Rogers golf ball treatment on the front strap and MSH. OUCH!

Here is the new Desert Tan I talked about. I also made a few new changes that you may not see in the pics. I made the texture more agressive closer to the front strap and MSH and gave the mid section a mild relief from the points of the diamonds. This is by far the most secure / agressive grip I have to date.  These are not for concealed carry as they will rip you a new a@#

The pics really do not show the beauty of the grips. More pics to come...

I like these grips alot. The full-coverage "checkered" pattern looks very cool, like an updated version of the plastic M1911A1 grips with modern materials. Great design!

Awesome.

Please keep us posted as to when they will be available.  I'm going to need at least 3 sets

Looks great!  I'm interested in the Desert Tan Diamondbacks without the aggressive pattern.

How much of a difference is felt on the non-aggressive pattern grips and the aggressive pattern grips when compared to the original wood grips on a Loaded SA Govt?

Please do let us know when these will be available.  Thanks.

Tzyck are the grip screw holes  not countersunk?  I ask because it seems like the screws jut out
from the grip?!   Thanks.

ETA:  I guess they are from the other pictures, but not deep enough perhaps?

They are. On the Gators, depending on what kind of screws you use, they seem to stick up a hair due to the texture / flute that runs down the center of the grip. Some of the button heads will protrude a little higher than the grip (Springfield) but they do not interfear with your comfort. You can also use slim bushings to bring the screws down a hair. I run slim bushings on all my 1911's. In some cases I run slim screws as well on standard grips.

Keep in mind that you can run slim bushings on ALL grips. In some cases you can run slim bushings and slim screws. On slim grips, you can only run slim bushings and screws.

I also change grips daily for pictures and fitting issues, I may not tighten my screws all the way in some of my pics which may be deceiving. Sorry!

I just put some washed black canvas ones on my SA BI Tone and man they look sweet. The wood never realy looked correct on it but these make the pistol and they give me better grip in my opinion.

Damn you Tzyck, I just purchased a pair of your "Operator" style grips last week and now you are forcing me to buy these Diamond Backs.  They look so sweeeeet I can't pass them up.

I put a pair of VZ green/black linen micarta grips on my SA Champion and they look great. As a matter of fact, the first thing people ask when I show them the gun is "Where did you get those grips?" I am convinced VZ is the only way to go.

A pair of those new VZ Diamondback grips in black will go nicely on a SS 1911 I have.

SPTiger,

Are the VZ Green/Black grips you have the VZ320's?  I put a pair of Green/Black Linen Micarta VZ320's on my Green/Black lightweight loaded SA Champion for CCW use.  I love them so much I went out an got a pair of Green/Black VZ Gators for my Kimber Ultra CDP and a pair of black Paper Micarta VZ "Operator" grips for my SA Black/Stainless 5".

Well, my new grips just arrived.  First impressions are really favorable.  I prefer a more aggressive traction on my grips, and these fit the bill.  I definately wouldn't want to carry these next to bare skin, as I'm sure it would abrade.  Thankfully, I always wear and undershirt.

Like MadDog, I also just received some VZ Operator grips.  Now I have to buy another 1911 to go with your Desert Tan Diamondbacks...
