I hear Mecgear makes good mags for high cap 9mm pistols, what about their 11rnd 1911 mags?

Never heard of Mecgear however these mags have a good reputation: www.mec-gar.it, suspect this is what your asking about.......

+1

I have two P99s, and some Mec Gars for both.  Very nice mags.

Edit:  So this is where post # 223 went..

I had some MG mags for my Dan Wesson Patriot Marksmen and they wouldn't lock the slide back after the last round.  They would if you manually racked the slide though.  I tried them in a friends 1911 and got the same results.  This was using 2 MG's and 2 Novaks (same mags).  Other than 1911 mags I've had good results with their mags.

About $19.00 each at Gander Mountain for Mec-Gar 8 rounders with the removable flat (and wide) base plate.  Can anyone find them cheaper? I got one and it works just fine for me.

I believe the Mec-Gar 1911 mags are also sold as Novak and Act magazines.  Last I saw, CDNN had Act mags for about $14.

I have used these mags and found them to be quite reliable.  I also like the wide base plate, especially at IDPA matches where you have to smack them in quickly and firmly.

I have however, heard that this magazine was known to wear and crack at the feed lips.  I don't have any source for this, but its just something one guy told me at an IDPA shoot.  I'd blow it off, except that he is a master class shooter and owns an equipment company.

Kimber's newly re-released hi-cap mags for their double-stack 45s are made by Mec-gar.

They come in a Kimber blister package with the Mec-gar stamp on the mag to the inside so you won't see it until you buy & open the package.

Why the $#@! Kimber decided to (slightly) relocate the magazine catch from the standard location... I'd like a few choice words with the marketing weenie who did that.
