On a standard 1911, what are the options for a rail and a light?   Pics appreciated too
if you have any.

I really want a weapon light, but I'm not willing to buy a Glock to do it

Anyone have a system they are happy with?

You buy a frame from a few companies that have the rail milled/ machined into it already, then just mofe all your parts.

Good luck.

Caspian makes a frame with integral rail as well.....One downside is that the frame has the serial number and thus......IS the gun. (FFL needed and all of that  jazz)

I believe Surefire makes an attachable rail for it's weaponlight system as well.   I have not used one so I will not comment on the quality.  It may just be another option for you.

Another option is the Springfield Armory MC Operator.  It has the M1913 Picatinny rail already on the frame.

I've got a safe full of 1911's, was trying to find some solution for them.  If I have to buy
another weapon to get a rail, I'll buy Sig

surefire's classic light system for 1911 mounts under the dust cover w/ out any gunsmithing- you just replace the slide stop pin. IIRC.  LAPD still uses them.

Since pics are appreciated too, I'll put up this picture of my TLE-RL for a day or two.
