I dunno why, but I really like those sights..they look like they're almost drop-in replacements for USGI sights.

Right after Wave posts his photos of his Dan Wesson worked over by Tripp |
I just bought a Loaded stainless. I'm curious, anyone have pics of a well used stainless pistol?
If y'all can wait 5 or 6 years, I'll be happy to post pics of my Colt Series 70 "repro"......
.....it's just to "pretty" right now. |
Who makes that ambi-safety on those springers of yours? I really hate the style that Kimber uses. Thanks! I bet if those guns could talk............ |
Lumpy, I've seen those pictures before, nice btw, but never noticed you mainspring housings. They're almost like inbetween arched and flat. What are those??
"Wedge" housing. Ed Brown and Wilson both still offer them I believe. I like it. I prefer the wedge shape or an arched MSH. |
Shoot! I just put a fresh coat of black primer on my beast. I'll have to get a pic when the metal wears thru again.
You paint your Eurotrash tupperwear? |
aaaah, that's interesting. Thank you. I got to tell you, I don't recall ever seeing them before. That's pretty cool. |
Chinese 1911, you overpriced 1911 buyer! |
I have a CZ75 like that, no finish on the backstrap, and three worn spots from my fingers...... I am having issues with rust spotting there due to a lack of finish I keep painting my 1911s that wear through, USGI or Modern 1911s, I don't buy Commie guns Wish I had a badly worn 1911 to show you guys, my SPringfield has only mild wear and a small amount of pitting on th eejection port from water in the leather |
You complete Commie bastard. AJ, I dont think anyone that recognizes a Swenson gun will ever think of them as BBQ guns. |
WalMart should start carrying Norincos! It would go great with all of the other cheap chinese shit they sell! |
I haven't ever seen reference to BBQ guns. What does that mean?
Its a Southwest thing |
When the family/friends gather (for a BBQ for instance) and you don your best jeans, highly polished cowboy boots (bonus points if they're made from exotic skins), your fanciest bolo tie, your biggest "rodeo" belt bucke holding up an elaborately tooled gunbelt and holster.....in which resides a particular pistol that you'ld be proud to wear in church. It's gotta' be "real purdy", either highly polished nickel or a blue so deep, you can see your reflection in it from across the room. Bonus points for exotic wood or ivory/scrimshaw grips......mucho-bonus points for elaborate engraving on the pistol. Such a pistol is a "BBQ gun". |

Man I love the old school stuff, great pixs so far |
If that's an ORIGINAL "two tone" magazine, it may be surprisingly valuable. Store it and use a
newer, less collectible mag for daily carry or duty use. Sweet 1911. I have one made in 1918, myself. It was refurbished at the Augusta Arsenal in 1964 by the stampings, and it has some but a not of wear to the OD parkerized finish that was applied at that time. My father bought it for 14 bucks in 1964 or 1965 via the DCM and NRA. CJ |
Here's another oldie but goodie - 1914 issue.

I would be careful with those old two tone mags, I have one and it started getting stress cracks near the back of the feed lips, you should use a newer surplus GI mag and save the two tone. |
I know exactly what it's worth. I've got some GI mags that work fine. I use the two-tone mag at the range. I run about 100-1000 rounds a year through it. It's the best stock 1911 or A1 that I've ever owned. It does not jam, even with Hydra-Shok or other social engineering ammo. |

Here's mine,
recently returned to an "all Correct" !944 Ithaca.... I love these old 45's http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v157/mjfrog1/1911a1leftside.jpg |
Thank You SrBenelli. I appreciate you taking the time to answer my question. |

I think you win again |

Oooo nice...a Remington and 2 Colt 1911's (one of the Colts looks transitional? As does the Remington?) And an RR 1911A1... VERY nice! |
Here's mine. Currently on duty in Iraq. Qualified with her the other day, no jams!
Standard 25 Meter qualification which consists of 7 rounds standing, 6 & 7 rounds with magazine change kneeling, 5 & 5 rounds w/mag change crouching, and 5 & 5 rounds w/mag change from the prone, all timed. 194 points out of 200. When I got this gun it was packed in GAA (Grease, Artillery and Automotive). While the finish is worn, detailed stripping too degrease (done with diesel) revealed the sear, disconnect and extractor were like new. Since no jams, I've stopped carrying the M9, and carry the 1911A1 as my side arm instead. It is much faster getting into action than the double action M9, and easier to hit with, due to the consistent trigger pull. I LOVE the 1911!!! http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b149/jmpmstr/Range45.jpg http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b149/jmpmstr/RemingtonRand.jpg http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b149/jmpmstr/RemingtonLeft.jpg http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b149/jmpmstr/target.jpg http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b149/jmpmstr/cleaning2.jpg |
i love to own a 1911 before i die... i don't know if i'll ever justify it though... i'd have no idea where to even start with which one to buy.... go stock or go all tactical-goober
Buy a Colt 1991A1, a Springfield Mil-Spec, or Kimber Custom (stay simple) chambered in .45ACP. Get some Wilson or McCormick magazines, buy standard velocity 230gr ammo for it, learn the way to clean and lube it, RESIST the urge to replace parts on your own, and make sure any modifications you do make to it enhance its performance and are done by someone that knows the gun. Odds are very good you'll end up with a gun you trust and shoot well with. |
+1 to lumpy's post.
You will NOT regret it. Every American man should own and be proficient with a 1911 capable of defending innocent lives. |
I keep a couple of Shooting Star mags loaded and ready to go next to it in the safe. The two tone mag rarely gets used anymore... |

Looks like "LEHD" to me. |
You might be right. I wonder what it means? |
