I shoot 230 all the time, so this matters to me. Do I keep it and replace with when the time to replace comes, or swap for the 18?

16 lb spring is correct for a full size 1911 shooting 230gr FMJ. 18lb is for hotter ammo but may be used in place of 16lb.
I run 16lb on all my full size 1911's.Government 1911 was design by JMB with a 16 lb spring using 230 ball ammo.

That's what I had thought, but the packaging was saying this was only for 185 and 200

So of course I was wanting to get a double check on opinions from those in the know here.

Thanks.

Soooooo, what 1911 you got?  Just curious.  I wish I had one now.  But I still do like the G26 for carrying.  But there's nothing like a 1911.

Springfield Armory 1911 Loaded that is almost more Wilson Combat and Ed Brown than it is Springfield Armory right now.

A few weeks ago I started noticing that the slide velocity was slowing down. No FTE's or anything and as usual, always goes bang but I figured that maybe I should be proactive now and get a replacement spring before the possible inevitable happens. My loads are stout too; loaded a thousand 230 FMJ's with Power Pistol and the thousand 230 plated with Bullseye; man those loads can really give some flash

Next time onward, reloads will be with HP38.

Flat bottom firing pin stop and 16lb spring is good. I use a flat bottom firing pin stop with a Wilson Shok Buff and a Wolff 17lb spring.
