They are like running shoes. Look around for some that look good to you, then try to hold a pistol with them on. The biggest differences I can see are the looks and the texture. Some have very aggressive texturing and some are so smooth I wonder if they would slip when gripped. |

My last gucci tactical 1911 was an STI that I put 10-8 Yam signature grips on. Amazing grips, but waaaaaaaaay to rough for carry.
The NH has alumagrips, which are nice, but really don't have much purchase. Im thinking of staying with slim grips since I will carry this bitch. |

All but two of my 1911's have Navidrex thin grips.
Those were all put on years ago, if I were to do it again VZ grips would be the choice.
|
|
My 1911-A1 GI has a nice set of RAASCO maroon canvas micartas on it. Slick-sided but not slippery, plus they look a lot better than the 'US' emblazoned stock Springfield grips.

Some nice deep dark checkered cocobolo grips on an all black pistol.....that might work.

|
Once you've used the best, none of the frilly sissy grips are gonna satisfy.
Get a new set of Pachmayrs for the NH. |

I prefer double diamond, classic checkered walnut or rosewood grips.

VZGrips, have a set of marine digicamo Aliens on my TRP. Besy grip you can get for any type of tac shooting, a little rough for ccw though.

View Quote Wow. After looking at her website, I'm about ready to buy a new handgun just to get a set of her Celtic checkered grips. Beautiful! And surprisingly inexpensive. |

Hell I changed my NHC from VZ Aliens to Pacs for EDC :-)
You really can't go wrong with VA or Larry Davidson. Either will serve you well |

I hate to say this, but I think I paid much less than that brand new from Midway. I'd have to double check but it seems to me it was more like 15 w/o shipping.
I forgot to hit quote, sorry about that. See below. |

I'm partial to Raasco. All four of my 1911's wear their grips.

Like lays chips "you can't just have one set"
I am partial to old school , quality wood double diamond grips , but I have a set of VZ recon slants in predator green that have not left my colt in nearly a year I also have a nice set of AlumaGrips that give a great feel |

Since there are 1000000000 options out there. It boggles the mind Ive been using pachmayrs on my MEUSOC type build since 2008. Best grips ever. But now that I have a NH, I want to try some new types. View Quote There are only a few types of grips that have 'class'. The rest of them are junk, so leaves you only with about a dozen types to chose from, with usually about a dozen choices within each type. |

I put the Hogues with finger grooves on mine. They are not high dollar and they fit me well.

No bling here. Old beat-up second hand Colt grips work fine. If I bought new grips I'd have to refinish the whole gun to match. That's not going to happen anytime soon. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v145/ZekeMenuar1/LWCommander_zps7671ea8d.jpg View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:
