I was inspired by kenduc999's recent thread on blackening stainless steel to order a small amount of the material he used and to the same thing to my Norinco.  It worked very well on the ambi safety that I knew to be stainless, but I was about to do the barrel like he did and realized I was not 100% sure if it was actually stainless.  I'm pretty sure it's the original barrel, it has the last 4 digits of the serial on the underside.  It looks like it, but so does a Mosin bolt and that's not stainless.  

Is there a test I can do to find out for sure?  Cold blue, maybe?

The Norinco bbl is hardchrome.
