I have one on a pistol i traded for.It is original finish, and in very good cond.
Any guesses to what it is worth?

It is parked, with the front 1/3 rd. or so darker, from heat treating that they did in that era.

ETA: Slide assy. It is a working complete pistol, just thought the Colt slide might be worth something,being original.

They are not worth a thing!!!! I'll take it off your hands..............................Okay.   I have been seeing prices from 2 to 3 hundred. I find it hard to believe it's "Original" finish though. Many of them have been through an arsenal rebuild at least once by now. Look closely to see if all the marking are there and look closely at the top of the pony's head for signs of a refinish job

I believe it is original.The old guy had built up about a dozen like this,probably 30 yrs. ago.
The board member i traded with got it in his estate sale.It does not look new, but is in very good condition.
All markings are perfect,no buffing has been done on it,i'm sure.Last patent date is 1913.
Right side has M1911 A1 U.S.Army. P is stamped ahead of rear sight on top of slide.
If it was refinished, i believe the darker front of the slide would not show anymore.


ETA: The pony is perfect,in every detail.You can even see the ears.

Sounds like you have a good slide!. Are you going to sell it?

I just picked one up for $175, but I think I got a good deal.
