One of the big Les Baer dealers recently had an on-line sale for the PII with the 1.5" option, for around $1700 plus shipping so I that's probably the minimum retail price for a new one you're ever likely to see. If you could get a really nice used example for around $1400, I'd think that would be a nice find.

My first 1911 (about 14 years ago) was a Premier II. I still have it and have never regretted sending off that big check all those years ago,

Sounds like a good deal.
You won't regret getting it. Unless you turn around and sell it, of course.
