I'm new to the 1911 and need to who makes good magazines at reasonable prices. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I use Chip McCormick mags and Wilson mags for my 1911's. Both have worked great for me so far....

Wilson, CM, Kimber factory, and MecGar mags have all worked well for me.

Try some before you buy, what magazines works for others might not work for you.

That's the beauty of 1911s.  You spend a lot of money on the gun and buy some $40 Wilson Combat mags to replace the cheap factory ones, only to find out that the factory ones work great and the $$$$ mags don't work in your gun.

Trust me, I've dealt with this issue on many different occasions.

I like the Wilson Combat Extreme Tactical Mags (ETM) or the 47Ds

I have found that any mag that has a anti-tilt follower in it works great!

ACT, Wilson, New Kimbers...all with the legs on the follower just work better.

The old school followers with the lip seems to bind when feeding and are more picky about the way they get reloaded.

I mainly have WIlson mags. But try a couple of different ones before you make a final decision.

I have always used Wilson and recently bought a couple of Tripp Cobra mags. These have worked great in all the 1911s I have owned.

Mec Gar and Colt factory are all I've ever used, a mix of 7 and 8 round mags. I prefer mags that fit flush. YMMV.

I'd suggest the Wilson Combat Elites. I've used Wilson Combat 47Ds since my first 1911 and the Elite mags are an improvement IMO.
