Which do you like better for everyday carry and why?!

I'd say G19.

Less weight.
Lower bore axis.
Higher capacity.
Consistent trigger pull (unless you're thinkin' goin' DAK with the Sig)
Cheaper, more readily available mags.
More readily available holsters.
Cheaper, more readily available parts.

The Sig's a great gun, but I'd chose the G19 for reasons stated above.

The Glock 19.  Pretty much summed up in the post above this one.

Ok, everyone here knows I'm a Glock guy. I will give a big +1 to Vini's post above; those are the major benefits of the Glock platform I'm come to embrace over time.

But, I wasn't always a Glock fan. For so long I tried to make something other than Glock work for me. I didn't enjoy shooting Glocks, I didn't like the way they looked. I carried Berettas (2), SIGs (5), 1911s (3), HKs (5), S&Ws (2), all in attempt to find the right carry weapon for me that wasn't a Glock.

The SIG P229 is an excellent firearm. I've owned a few as well as a P228 (the only SIG I still own). They look great, feel great in the hand, and except for the DA/SA thing, I think they shoot like a dream. You won't go wrong with this pistol.

That said, since I've carried both the P229 and the G19, the G19 carries slimmer and feels lighter when loaded than the P229. I point the G19 better and have much more accurate, quick and consistent follow-ups with it. I think this is due to the lower bore axis and more exagerated grip angle (which I've grown to like). Additionally, I can get cheap factory parts for the Glock many places and have stocked up on everything. It's stupid easy to work on, and I cannot say that for myself about SIGs.

With a G19, along with a stash of spare parts, you can keep that gun running until it's time to hand it over to your son or daughter, and then they'll do the same thing. I hate to come across sounding like a kool-aid drinking Glock guy, but I really think they are one of the best out there for these reasons. I think S&W may have hit on something with the M&P. Time will tell. I'm still not seeing an abundance of factory replacement parts available out there but maybe I'm not looking in the right places. I hope the M&P gives Glock a run for its money because I think competition is good. It could push Glock to come out with something better, or the competition could be better itself. Either way, we win.

Had a 228 for a while and the grip felt way to big and the bore axis height belt weird.

The 228 isnt a bad gun but their are just cheaper and better alternatives on the market,

Get whichever you like the most or you will regret not getting it. If you like them equally then I would recommend the G19 for aftermarket, price in gun and accessories and reliability.

 

The P229 DAK was my issued gun. I turned it in and bought a P2000 with my own money and have never regretted it. Aside from Sigs QC problems which can be found in other threads, the P229 is a cumbersome gun to carry concealed everyday. I'd love to carry a Glock. They are cheaper, lighter, run 100% and conceal very nicely.

Agree with Hero's summation. I have both and prefer the G19 for everyday CC. Lighter weight, less bulk and no hammer or decocker. Simpler.

Glock 19. I carry one everyday.

For CCW, the G-19 is better purely due to its dimensions.  

For anything else, I prefer SIG's.  Crisper trigger pull, more comfortable grip.

Anything that is not 'GLOCK' is a better fit for you.

I find the P229 and P220 fit my hand better than any Glock I have ever tried. I would pick the one that fit your hand the best.

SGB isn't "anti-Glock", he's just objective.

Their both good guns.  Some of us prefer the Glock platform, some not.

I have both.  The G19 is better for concealed carry, since its lighter and have smaller dimensions.  However the SIG 229 is an outstanding handgun - one of the most accurate pistols I have.  The G19 is not bad either.

I used to carry a P229 and end changing for a G23 just because it was easier to conceal.

G19 for all the many reasons listed above.

I carry a G19 after years of carrying SIGs.  The benefits others listed are why I carry a Glock.

What I really want is a doublestack 9mm 1911 type of gun (love that SA trigger) with a rail and CTC grips.
