I just purchased a STAR BM from a member here and though the transaction went well, I'm
having problem with the slide stop. I field stripped the gun and did a good cleaning. When I shot
the STAR the slide stop would engage after two or three shots, sometimes one. The gun feeds
and ejects great and is accurate. The slide stop rubs up against the slide bottom with one of the mags
more so than the other. As long as I try to hold the s s down it works great but I let it slip and it
holds the slide back.
Is it the slide stop or the barrel link worn out? Or ???  Thanks for any other ideas.

Post this in the Gunsmithing section also.

Sounds like one of the mags may need some slight "modification" with a file.

If there's a plunger on the side impinging on the end of the Slide Stop, as in a 1911, the spring may be weak.  Or sometimes a small divet can be lightly drilled into this end of the Slide Stop, giving more positive engagement from the plunger.

I can't remember if the BM has a plunger tube on the side of the frame like a 1911 or not though.
