I suggest you take a look at the ARCUS 94 or 98. Well built, will take lots of abuse and inexpensive.

Given a choice, I'd take the Browning clone.
An all round better designed gun, more availability of high capacity magazines, and accessories. |

Id buy the Argie HP long before the Helwan.
Its a decent gun, based on the one of the most ergonomic designs ever, and it'll be a hell of a lot easier finding someone experienced in repairing, or better yet, customizing the HP. |

I found the mag release on the Helwan to be far too clunky for me, and the trigger was a bitch compared to the FEG hi-power that I picked up. Also, you'll have a harder time finding grips, mags, etc... Get the HP clone, remove the magazine safety, and be a happy camper.

I agree with Lumpy, get the Argentine. You will be happier in the long run.
