I'd like some information from anyone who is familiar with LDA pistols.  I'd like to build a compact LDA pistol in .38 Super.  Can a regular 1911 slide fit and function on an LDA frame or are there mechanical differences in the slide to accomodate the LDA trigger system?  Any thoughts appreciated.

As long as it doesn't have a firing pin safety it should work. IIRC, Colt is the only one with this POS.

I shot a single stack .38 super LDA at an IDPA safety officer's school last spring.  It was sweet!  Good luck on the project.

Okay, (wiping off drool),....okay, I like you.  You like the 38 Super .

I have an LDA 14-45 and a 18-9.  Looking at the frames of both and the ejector, they seem identical, even though when you look in parts catalogs (ie Brownells), the listed ejector for 45 and 9mm are different (in general).  From looks alone, the LDA's are the same.  Now, with that being said, switching a top end assembly in Super into a LDA 45 "Should" work.  A different barrel will be needed, since the majority of the LDA's use the Para style barrel.

My suggestion, get a slide for 38 Super (either Colt, Springfield, STI or who ever makes them, look at Brownells, heck look at the actions.  I've seen 38 Super stailness slides on there for about 250-300) and get a drop in bull barrel from Bar-Sto (200.00).  That would be the "quickest" way.  

I'm planning a hi cap LDA 38 Super via a barrel swap on my 9mm.  Twenty rounds of 38 Super.....mmmm.
