I'm looking at buying a Smith & Wesson 638 SC off the Equipment Exchange.

It's a 357 airlite / mountain lite with a 3" barrel.

What should I anticipate the double action trigger pull to be like?

DA trigger pull will be a lot less aggravating than the recoil.

Triggers on the J frames are typically not as good as their larger brothers.  The smaller mass of the parts generally requires a stronger hammer spring to get reliable ignition.  Nor do the J frames lend themselves to trigger jobs like the K, L, or N.

Enjoy the gun for what it is, point and shoot defensive pistol and not a target grade revolver or everyday plinker.   And yes, the 357 airlite can be a gruesome shooting experience with full house loads.

Expect a heavy trigger pull and a very snappy recoil.

Trigger pull was much better than expected but recoil was a bit more than I expected!!   Ouch!!

Shot 20 rounds of American Eagle 158gr soft points.  I started flinching so I decided to call it a day and will get some 38s to practice with.
