I want a full size pistol, I want to be able to get high caps, both 30+ and then 15-17 flush fitting mags, and under $400.  Other than those things I don't really have any other qualifications.  So what would you guys buy?

Thanks
Brad

Based on your criteria - The glock 17 is just about your *ONLY* option.

You'd be hard pressed to find a full frame USP 9mm for $400.

15 round highcaps for HK's are few and far between at my local gun show, but the can be found at reasonable prices.

If your serious about 30+ round mags I think the only choice is glock, or some sort of double stack STI or SV 2011 in 9mm. The STI or SV will be at least 3x your budget, and the mags will behigh caps with extensions. for the glock you could either get a glock 18 mag, or FML high cap with +11 extension.

so glock is really your only choice.

I have a Ruger P89 9mm, I have 20 round mags, and 15 round flush mags.

Brand new at $350.
1500+ rounds and never a jam.
Its my baby.

But if you get it, get Hogue grips.  Alot of people say the grip on it is to bulky, the Hogues make it heaven to hold.

There are no really reliable 30rd. pistol mags out there. I would suggest looking at a new Springfield XD and getting some .40XD mags which will hold 15rd. of 9mm.

Another vote for a used Beretta 92.

The CZ75 pistols are also good quality and cheap to boot. A new one can be had around the 400 buck range. I don't know about the status of hicaps for them.

Hicaps for the 92 are out there in sufficient numbers, but factory mags of 20 rounds are rare. (I been looking for one for MONTHS)

I use a G-34 (Glock)w/meprolites......It has done well for me (20,000+ rnds). No....it's not under $400.....but worth every penny.I have owned and shot Smiths', USPs',Berettas',CZs',Sigs and Glock. The only ones I believe are worth the cash are the Sigs, HK-USP and Glock.

I'd recommend getting one of the police trade-in SIG P226s floating around out there.  They can be had for around $400 with night sights and 15rd (flush fitting) mags are $50 or less just about everywhere.  My buddy has a 30rd mag for it but I've never seen him use it so I can't vouch for its reliability.

Glock 17 is the answer.

Discounting the Tec-9, Uzi pistol and a few other makes of that type, the Glock 19 or 17 would be the one with reliable 30+ mags, either factory or Scherer 33 rounders.
Beretta, S&W and a few other offered 20 round magazines, but are getting expensive.
Avoid the cheap aftermarket mags, save your money.
Even if they do work, they don't seem to live long.

I got a used Sprignfield Armory XD9 with MMC adjustable sights (which I actually don't really like), a laser sight, and three ten round mags for roughly $400.

I am a happy camper.

Thanks for the input guys. I think I am going to try and track down a glock.

I have a glock 19 and I love it. I have the first gen (no finger grooves or rail), and it fits me just as well as a 2nd or 3rd. Preban mags are 15rnd, and you can get +2 floor plates for those as well. I've also used a glock 17 mag w/ +2 extention in a friends g19 comfortably as well (extends about 1 inch below the bottom of the pistol). Etheir way, I'd go glock if you really wan't mag choices...

EDIT: Looks like you did already, good choice! :]

I have a mac 11. Really not that accurate, mostly due to the the sights that are so terrible they cannot even be called sights. Fun to index at 10 yards, and the trigger has such a short reset you can bounce it.

Another vote for the Sig 226.  I picked up mine used for something like $400.  Great gun.

I've used cheap aftermarket Ramline mags with no ptoblems and equally cheap 30 round mags, also with no problems.

Get rid of those plastic-polymer sissy pistols and get yourself a CZ75B.

Bang for the buck.  Seriously.  Got mine for $389.  Watch out for Glock hicaps.  They're FUGGING EXPENSIVE right now.  I found a source of CZ mags.  About $26 each. After the ban sunsets, all hicaps should be more available, but the Glock mags will probably still be higher priced.  (they are nice mags, tho)
