Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Building a 1911, have a few questions.

Looking to build a 1911 in the next month or so.
Want to build it from 80% receiver, double-stack. Springfield type long slide(6"bbl).

Looking to spend no more than $850.

Other than a BM, this is only the second firearm build I have done alone.

Besides Brownells, do you have any sources/links I can spend countless hrs deciding in wich direction to head?

Might I suggest you read a couple of issues of American Handgunner, especially the issues with 1911 articles?

There's a slew of ads in there for Midway, Denny's, Cylinder & Slide, etc. that will help/hinder your choices.

These sites mainly delve into how to build an 80% or custom build but there's other good info there concerning which tools, parts, etc to buy.
