I have the oppurtunity to purchase both NIB from a friend. I am not sure which one I want. I might carry one day but Im not sure.  I dont want both so I must choose. What do you guys think and why?

FNP. unless you want to CCW then the colt. The FNP, a friend of mine has compared to a USP, just cheaper (in terms of accuracy, about 2in at 25yards). reliability, it seems great (Doesn't seem to have the problems the first generation FNP9's and 40's had had). with the flat backstrap  the trigger reach is excellent for a double stack .45 for the double action trigger pull. the SA pull is about 4.5lbs. capacity is 14+1, which is excellent. i remember reading in another thread, unless my memory is misleading me-

But in all seriousness, the FNP feels good in the hand, its got a nice trigger, good accuracy, reports on reliability so far have been good. and its about 570bucks. comes with 3 mags too.  and remember, with the short barrel 1911's, reliability, isn't usually all that great (well, as compared to a 5in 1911 - especially to a new age polymer pistol). but when it comes down to it, i'd handle and try the trigger on both.

The FNP-45 is no CCW piece.

It is however a really good house/nightstand/service pistol.  Mine has absolutely become my "go to" handgun of choice.  It is not ammunition sensitive in the least.   +P rounds have little more felt recoil than standard pressure rounds do.  It's trigger reach in double action is very much like a 9mm CZ 75B.  An astounding feat for a double stack .45 ACP handgun.  The trigger pull and feel are very very good, and get better with every range session.

I realize that a handgun choice is very personal, as we are all built differently, but even in my smallish hands the FNP-45 is a very instinctive pointer, and I shoot it more accurately than any other automatic I own.

Your mileage man vary, but on the whole FNP-45 owners are a very satisfied bunch.

Get the defender. The FNp 45 is a chunk.  The defender will also hold its resale if you ever want to trade or sell it.

The guy that had the Colt also had a Bushmaster 20" H-Bar. I bought that instead. The guy with the FNP wanted more than a new price, He never shot it, but still. The Colt is nice but I was thinking if I wanted a 1911 style gun I want a full size. I was not going to carry it so it was not in my best interest to get it.
