Been thinking of getting a 10mm over .45(though ammo $ might sway me the other direction).  But there does not seem to be many 10mm options.

I checked S&W's website and they only list a revolver in 10mm(I think)- do they no longer produce a 10mm auto?  My dad had one a year(s) or so ago, maybe a model 1076 or something like that I *think*...

Does that just leave glock and sig?

Glock 20  15+1

Currently S&W only produce the 610 revolver in 10mm.  They dropped their autos, but they made a bunch of them, so they're pretty easy to find if you look around.  They are all third gen autos and the model numbers start with 10xx (i.e. 1006, 1076, 1066, etc).  

Colt used to make the 10mm Delta Elite.  I have one and it's a great gun.  They've become a cult gun as of late and prices are climbing well over the $600 mark.

There are other clone 1911 makers that still offer 10mm's.

Glock makes a 10mm line.  Small and big size.  Not much more needs to be said there.  It's a Glock, so you pretty much know what you're getting.  I personally don't like Glocks because to me they just don't feel right, but they are great guns and there's nothing wrong with them.  If you like Glocks, then one of these would be the thing to get.

EAA makes the Witness in 10mm.  It's a scaled up CZ-75 clone.  I don't know much about how well they actually work.

Sig does not make a 10mm (I wish they did.  I'd be ALL OVER that).

There are a bunch of other 10mm's, but the above ones are the ones you have a reasonable chance of finding, buying, shooting, etc.  

For a general purpose 10mm auto, the Glock or a Smith and Wesson is the way to go.  For a revolver, the 610's the only game in town.

There is a dedicated 10mm forum at pistolsmith.com. Aside from the previously mentioned pistols, Dan Wesson makes one. I personally haven't handled one, so any opinion I give will be undounded, but check out the DW forum on 1911forum, there are lots of opinions there. I think the Kimber is the external extractor model,l but could be wrong. I've also heard their custom shop will build you whatever you want. There are lots of custom routes, but they are all 1911 based. Somebody makes an officer sized on a custom basis as well. Deltas avg 750+, but sometimes you can catch one on gunbroker for arround 600. As a long time SIG shooter, they'll have to pry my Delta from my cold dead hands. Even thinking of being burried with it.

As far as ammo cost, invest in a good progressive reloading set up. 10mm is one of the calibers it still makes sense to load for.

I like the Glock 20.  High capacity,reliable, and the recoil is manageable; it's a good package for the 10mm.

I have served as a range officer in IPSC and IDPA for many years. 10MMs were fairlr popular at one time. Not so much these days except revolvers.  The only reliable 10MM auto I have seen on the range is the Glock.  The others that I have seen have a tendency to puke (jam) on a regular basis.  
I have always been facinated with the 10MM cartridge.  I'd go Glock in an auto.  I am hoping Taurus offers a revolver in their "tracker" series before long.  The S&W 610 is too darn expensive.

S&W all the way. They made the beefiest, best time tested models in a wide variety of styles. And their mags don't cost an arm and a leg.
