Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - First pistol: Sig P229. Should I do it?

I'm looking for my first pistol, and really like the P229.  What do you folks think?  Any other recommendations?  I want it for general purpose blasting and indoor range shooting.

Are you serious? There's only about a gazillion models out there to choose from.

The P-229 is a well built, well made gun. If it fits your hand best, buy it.

I'd go for it. mmsig229 carries one for his duty sidearm. I've shot it and highly recommend it

Go for it!  It's a fine pistol.  Buddy of mine has one for his duty weapon and swears by it.  Very reliable, very well built, and very fun to shoot, in any caliber.
