I shooting in IPSC. I just got a Springfield armory Mil-spec an i love shooting that. I shoot a Glock 34 in IPSC now an i have been thinking about switching over to a 1911 for IPSC.
Should i stick with the Glock or go with the 1911?

Thanks

As a fellow IPSC shooter, I can say that capacity IS one's friend!

I would also be hesitant to beat to death my 1911 in IPSC matches.

Since it's possible to be competitive with either one, it depends more on what your goals are.

Personally I would rather shoot a gun I love, instead of shooting a gun that might be more competitive but one I didn't much care for.

+1

costs might also be a consideration; for under a grand, you can hope up a glock pretty well to compete...for 1911s, it can take up to a few grand to get a really race gun up

i'd consider: are you competing just for competing/fun/shooting? or are you looking to rack up wins and 'be the best'?

personally, i shoot just to shoot, esp at my skill level (and i dont have the funds or real desire to have dedicated race guns)

I'd say that fits at least 50% of the shooters I shoot with, if not a bit more.

A stock 1911 can be used in the New Single Stack div.

It is basically IDPA CDP, excpet we allow 9mm to play. and no cover.

45acp/40S&W 9 rounds max in gun 8 max in magazine. major pf if your reloads make 165 pf. major scoring.

9mm/38 super 11 rounds max in gun, 10 rounds max in magazine. minoe pf 125pf. minor scoring.

holster and ammo pouches must be of the everyday wear type. IE no  gamers holsters. Springfield M0D 012 for example would be no go.

Your choice go with what you want. All you need is a functioning pistol to have fun.

bob I've been using my carry 1911 in USPSA and IDPA matches on and off since 1998. I would not worry about beating a gun to death in IPSC. Well if your using a jeanings I would be.
