Ok, let me start by saying this is not my first handgun, i have enjoyed legal handgun purchases since i turned 18, but this time i can go and pick one out from my fun store , and i want to treat myself for my birthday (as soon as i get out of the UK, what a place for a gun lover ). So heres what i have for handguns:
Sig P226
Sig P220st Sport Stock
Ruger P95dc (not a fan)
Beretta Bobcat .22
Glock 23 for carry
S&W 639
S&W 686

I'm not looking for a conceal carry piece, i have the glock and the bobcat for that (if i would ever resort to a popgun for a self defense gun), i'm looking for something a little special, but not so special i cannot find parts if i needed to. i was thinking FN Five-Seven, Kimber 10mm, HK USP tactical .45, and a Pardini? but i am open for suggestions since none of these have really stuck. (please no rifle suggestions my safe is full and my bench has too many projects at the moment)

+1

or the HK Tactical

not worth it imo for the FN 5-7 or kimber 10mm (i'd just as soon opt for the G20 if you want a 10mm)

I find it bulky, i can't stand the plastic (hogue grip fixed this), and i find it beyond ugly. It has performed well, i cannot complain, for 200 NIB i felt the price was right. Its personal taste, i keep it around because its a cheap plinker i dont mind my friends manhandling.

Ruger Mk II or III Target pistol

I'm a cheap bastage, so it's the only pistol i can afford to blast with on a regular basis

You need a 1911.

Everybody needs a 1911

I'm gonna suggest a nice 1911 or a Ruger MkII.

The MkII can be a work in progress... Buy aftermarket internals, grip panels, pac-lite upper, suppressor, etc.

Yeah, i like shooting .22s, i was thinking if i went the 1911 route i could get a .22 conversion, actually, that sounds pretty good right now... Do standard 1911 grips and conversions fit a 10mm 1911?

The USP Tactical is special if that's what you want.  Think of the reliability of a Glock combined with the accuracy of the finest 1911, with the capability to add a silencer.

I am a biased USP advocate of course, but the TAC is something special.

Grips yes.

I agree that everyone needs a 1911... They are so nice and if you want something a little speical there are sooooooo many things you can do to a 1911 to make it your own personal pistol.

but if you want something straight from the shelf get the FN. 20 round magazine, the accurate as all get out, not much kick. They were originally made for tankers like the p-90. And as far as I know they are pretty darn rugged.

Sooo many choices! Right now i am here:
FN Five Seven
OR
Kimber Eclipse II 10mm
OR
Dan Wesson Razorback 10mm

any feedback comparing the 2 1911s would be great, and if anybody knows if i can use a .22 conversion with them.
thanks
