today i had my barrel bushing fail on my 1911 commander, and had my recoil spring and the plug piece from my 2 peice guide rod go flying down range. i was wanting to know if a commander, and govt model barrel bushing are the same.

No, the commander has a shorter bushing.

Govt. are .870" (22.1mm) long. Commanders are .549" (13.9mm) long.
